Fourth of July at SFO
Yesterday was the Fourth of July and we spent it at San Francisco International Airport, exactly where we spent it two years ago in 2010 when we returned from Spain after 2 years of living in Malaga. David was the first to point it out as we waited for Esteban to return from his All Star Jazz Band tour in Vancouver, Victoria, and Seattle. While he was touring, we went to the Cardoso's cabin in Arnold, for the first time in Summer, and had a WONDERFUL time.
It occurred to me that we were were still having family adventures that I wanted to document, here in California. I hadn't visited my blog from Spain since we'd returned until today and I realized that I really treasured being able to go back and read a few words of what we did and seeing photos of what we looked like. I didn't keep it up as much as I would've liked because I didn't document our second year at all. I had nothing about Natalia's wedding and my job teaching English to both school age and adult learners. Nonetheless, I had "something" and hopefully one day, my kids will enjoy going back and reading some of those entries. I'm glad Esteban also wrote a little bit because I can see things from his perspective and what he chose to write about.
Something else which has encouraged me to start this blog is that I want to stay connected to the family and friends in Spain so I've been contemplating writing this blog in Spanish. I'm not good at going into Facebook but I feel I will be more inclined to post on the blog knowing that it's got more permanence. Also, I would hardly have access to my computer since David and Esteban were always using it for their homework. Now Esteban has his own computer, thanks to family and friends who bought it for him as his graduation gift. So now I only have to compete with David for computer time. We'll see - I hope I can keep it up!
